@andrew: Yes I was being a bit general with Sabre. That Air New Zealand site you've mentioned is great - fantastic interface as well - and a great flipping over of the way one would normally fly. This is a perfect example of a bit of fuzzy logic applied to a unique and simple interface as it's immediately apparent how to use it as well.

All airlines do not use Sabre! Although I will concede airlines are limited by the restrictions imposed by the particular GDS used and fares and distributed through. Some individual airlines have developed the feature you talk about - case in point - air new zealand - you can choose to be flexible by day and click through 7 day periods (four clicks to see the cheapest fare for a month)..
